Heard from my friend Bodie this morning that the hurricane completely missed them down in Wewahitchka, FL (haven’t you always wanted to live in a place with a name like that?)… that’s in the panhandle near Panama City… nothing at all happened there… but 75 miles away in Tallahassee there were 170,000 without power… and it will be awhile getting things back to normal. It misses one… clobbers another… another of those “happenings” I’ve been talking about.
How many things like that have I seen in this past 81 years. How many times have I asked… how come, Lord… why one and not the other… this one lives, that one dies… Back when I was still eating from that wrong tree, I would suggest things should have been a little different, proving once again that “I would be as God, deciding what should and should not happen”… of course, the more the circumstances affected me personally, the grumpier I would be about it.
When I finally got over myself and realized that God was God, not Philip, things started to change for me. What He said to Moses finally got thru… “ I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” Reminds me of how He responded to His disciples just before He left, when they were all wanting to know what was going to happen next: “It is not for you to know times and epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority”…. kind of a nice way of telling them/me that it really is none of my business…. 🙂
He is going to do whatever He is going to do. My plan is just to continue to deal with whatever it is He puts on my plate today. Even got around to cutting the grass today!
