business takers #3

My next business step…. I got a job in New York City and spent the next 3 years commuting to Battery Park every day from New Jersey… took a bus into Port Authority, hopped on the subway to the closest stop and walked to the end of Battery Park… it was a small family owned business, brokers of tallow and grease to the soap makers…each year I got a $10 raise from my $70 week starting rate… after 3 years, I was now making $100 a week, had 4 kids and another on the way, was back working part time for my dad again… this was the slow boat to nowhere… so … I figured it was time to make the big jump, take the big risk,  and get into my own business…. it was 1961. I had learned that I would never be content working for other people… mostly because I knew I had a better way to do everything anyway.. 🙂  My ego was big enough at that point that I no longer needed to scratch it
So sad… I became a full fledged member of the business takers…. I was up to my eyeballs in the kingdom of this world…. until 1968.
