So He sends us to do the same things that He was sent to do. Ok… now…. I know this is difficult… but… this is important… so forget everything our religious systems have said about why Jesus was sent to the earth. Instead… let us just simply see… what Jesus said… about why He was sent…
“7And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written”…. (Isaiah 61)
1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
2To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
“Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
Over the next weeks, I am going to try to muse about each of these things that Jesus said were the reasons He was sent … important because… He also said that He is sending us to do exactly the same things that He was sent to do.
