After my  paraphrase  yesterday… e.g. “paraphrase”.. put in my own words…. not some words I memorized.   I thought I would explain why I do things like that… all the time… I believe it is essential to speak out of my own experiences with the Lord… not out of what I read in a book or hear from a pulpit or have been taught by the educated ones…. not out of other people’s opinions or intellectual persuasions… but out of what I have personally touched of His Life as I have walked with Him….

John the apostle said it this way…   “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched–this we proclaim concerning the Word of life”.

John wrote about what He experienced as He walked with Jesus… from his own personal response to touching His life…. Luke did the same thing…in Luke 4 where he is recording what Jesus did when He entered the synagogue:    “and he entered, as his custom was, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And he opened the book, and found the place where it was written,”

From that point on Luke is  paraphrasing  what Jesus read… just compare what  Luke says  Jesus read… to what Jesus  was actually reading  from Isaiah…

Luke hadn’t  memorized  Isaiah… Luke didn’t think it was  essential  to fulfill all righteousness,  that he go back to Isaiah and make sure he had all the words straight…. Luke simply explained  what he personally heard Jesus saying… that which  “Luke had heard… seen… looked at… and touched of the  Word of Life... Jesus…”   and… that is what Luke proclaimed...
