waiting…

It all starts with learning to wait… I need to be prepared of course… I need to be ready… in season and out of season…. I need to put on  “all my armor”… I need to have  all my weapons then…. “having done all”... I need to do the most important thing….  I need  to stand…  to wait.… yes… just wait… the  most impossible  of all things for my natural man to do… nothing… just stand there and do nothing… just wait for the Master to point out who needs their  glass filled  at the table.

But….” that isn’t ME, Lord!”  …. when Philip is ready… then  Philip is ready… then  Philip must act…  Philip has to engage….  Remember?… “Do something Wolff, even if it’s right”…. it is the way we are… we are  do-ers… not  wait-ers...  once again:  my old foreman on the roof used to bust me with this one too… all the time…. “Don’t just do something Wolff… stand there!”

I’ve been doing a lot of research on the battles in the Pacific, during WWII… watching accounts of all the battles… one after the other… and…  always… soldiers saying that the hardest thing  they had to do was…. to wait… even back in my National Guard days, the joke was always to….  “hurry up and wait!”

Every time a soldier follows their orders to do something… they do it…. then they wait… for the next order… for the landing craft to hit the shore… for the chance to dig in… to wait and be ready….  to advance or to be attacked or wait some more… like I said… they all said … it was the single  most difficult thing of all  for them to do…  just wait

Can we wait?
